The report presents the most important results from the environmental survey in Region VI, Haltenbanken, 2006. The survey is carried out jointly by Det Norske Veritas and Molab AS. The environmental survey in 2006 in Region VI show: · The sediments at Region VI are partly dominateted by silt and clay and partly of very fine sand · The total organic matter content in the sediments is relatively high and varies from 2,4 % to 8,5 % · The contents of THC generally varies between 4 and 20 mg/kg. · The contents of barium are generally between 100 and 7000 mg/kg for Region VI. Ethers from drilling fluid Aquamul B II are found in the sediments at Heidrun, the same concentrationlevel as in 2003. This indicate a slow degradation rate · The concentrations of heavy metals are low, and elevated levels are only found at some stations · The benthic community in the region can in genereal be considered as healthy and undisturbed. Influenced benthic fauna is seen at Njord, Heidrun and Kristin. · The estimated area of the influenced benthic fauna is in the same order of magnitude as in 2003. · The results show no trend for variations in the contents of hydrocarbons, barium or organic matter in ther period 1997 ¿ 2006.
