Tittel: Monitoring of hazardous substances in the White Sea and Pechora Sea: harmonisation with OSPAR’s Coordinated Environmental Monitoring Programme (CEMP)
The report presents data on environmental contaminant concentrations in biota from the White Sea, in 2010 and bottom sediments from the Pechora Sea in 2009. According to Klif classification, levels of all persistent organic pollutants and trace elements measured in blue mussel and cod from the White Sea in 2010 correspond to the Class I (“insignificant” contamination) and meet the Russian and EC hygienic requirements for foodstuff.
Trend analyses were carried out on data from the JAMP/CEMP surveys in the White Sea (2006-2010) and results are presented in the report. The report present the analysis of regional differences in contamination levels in sediments and biota from the Barents Sea, Pechora Sea and the White Sea on summarized data from the JAMP/CEMP surveys during 2003-2010.
