Mercury - a high priority issue

27.08.10 A brochure on how Norway has worked to reduce and eliminate mercury pollution in Norway, was presented at the first meeting of the International Negotiation Committee for a new global agreement on reduction of mercury releases held in Stockholm 7-11 June this year.

Mercury has high priority in Norway’s efforts to minimise harm caused by hazardous substances. The national target is for releases and use of mercury and other substances that pose a serious threat to health or the environment to be continuously reduced with a view to eliminating them by 2020.
