Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT)
The Authority is responsible for the administration of most legislation on the use and labelling of dangerous chemicals, and for inspection and control. State of the Environment Norway
The website State of the Environment Norway www.environment.no (opens in new window) presents information on the state of the environment in Norway and gives an introduction to important environmental problems. You can also find environmental data and maps and information on Norway’s environmental targets, current legislation, Norway’s international obligations and EU directives. The material is produced by the subordinate agencies of the Ministry of the Environment.

Norwegian Food Control Authority
The Authority administrative responsibilities include food and food products, and also cosmetics and other skin care products. You will find more information on the website www.snt.no (opens in new window), for example up-to-date information for the entire Norwegian coast on where it is safe to collect and eat mussels.

National Poison Information Centre
The Centre is open 24 hours a day and provides expert advice on what to do in the event of poisoning. The more you know about the cause of the poisoning, the more help you can be given. Eco-labelling

In your municipality
The municipality where you live is responsible for collecting hazardous waste. Ring them if you have any questions.

Health clinics and pharmacies
The staff at health clinics and pharmacies can answer many questions about health risks from chemicals. They can also suggest further routes of enquiry and have information material on poisonous plants, the safe use of medicines and so on. 

A greener everyday life
On the website www.gronnguide.no (opens in new window), you will find tips from Norway’s Environmental Home Guard on how you can live a greener life. There is information on everything from how to make your own compost and organic gardening to how you can choose a new computer.
